In the faith community, we strive to become better disciples of Jesus Christ through spiritual growth, studying the Bible and theology together, and passing on the faith to our children through communal learning opportunities. We are committed to growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ, in learning more about our Christian faith, and in infusing our daily lives with the grace of God in Christ Jesus for all of us. The activities of this Ministry Unit empower and equip us to do that in community with one another through the following teams:
Adult Spiritual Formation: This team is responsible for all adult learning and spiritual growth opportunities in the congregation, including Adult Sunday School, Wednesday evening Bible studies, and any other short or long term Bible studies or spiritual growth opportunities that may arise. This team makes recommendations for curricula in the above and consults regularly with the pastor to determine what new opportunities will be beneficial to the congregation. This team also makes provisions to ensure that all teachers of adult spiritual formation classes are trained and equipped for the task to which they have been called.
Children’s Spiritual Formation: This team is responsible for all aspects of children’s ministry from birth through 5th grade. In partnership with the Director of Children’s Formation they organize, oversee, coordinate, monitor, and advertise Sunday School, Worship Our Way, Vacation Bible School, Wednesday AfterSchool, and Kidszone, and ensure that curricula, facilities, supplies, and equipped teachers/mentors are available for all. Additionally, they plan special family outings throughout the year to foster community among young families. This team is also responsible for overseeing the ministry of the preschool, in partnership with the Preschool Director, and will consistently look for opportunities for the congregation to be involved with and support the preschool ministry.
Student Ministry: This team plans and implements the spiritual growth and formation of students in Middle School, High School, and College. They oversee our participation in the multiple congregation Student Ministry partnership and make recommendations for the spiritual growth, fellowship, worship, and service opportunities our Middle and High School students will have. They coordinate retreats, mission trips, camps, conferences, and service in conjunction with the Director of Student Ministries and the other partner congregations. They will explore opportunities to minister to our students who are in college, either locally or away. They will serve as and recruit mentors and chaperones for all activities and will seek to invest their lives in the lives of our teenage and college age young people.
Nursery: This dedicated team makes sure that our nursery is as warm, inviting, and safe as it can possibly be for the young families that entrust their young children to our care whenever a congregation function is being held. In partnership with the Director of Children’s Formation they will ensure that qualified, approved, and trained nursery workers are scheduled to serve the youngest among us.
*Special Note: This Ministry Unit will oversee and manage the Musser Scholarship Fund as part of the work of the Ministry Unit. The unit itself will oversee the process by which applicants are accepted, reviewed, and selected and make the appropriate recommendation to the Session.
